1. Objectives:
- provide greater opportunities for students to use English for purposeful communication both inside and outside the classroom;
- make use of learner-centred instruction to encourage learner independence;
- make greater use of literary or imaginative texts to develop critical thinking and encourage free expression and creativity;
- promote language development strategies, values and attitudes that are conducive to effective, independent and lifelong learning;
- integrate e-learning in the design of learning, teaching and assessment activities
2. Curriculum Development:
Major concern of the annual English Language Curriculum development plan
- Foster the lower (key stage 1) and upper (key stage 2) primary students’ abilities of problem solving skills
- Enhance students’ self-directed learning abilities through e-learning assessment
- Consolidate students’ sense of accomplishment
- Conduct English language activities for P.1-P6 and promote reading across the curriculum
- A reading programme for P.4-P.6 students
- Space Town (EDB NET Section) Programme is conducted from P.1 to P.3
- Students enjoy the lessons and their writing, reading, listening and speaking skills have improved through these experiences. The local English teachers, the native English teachers (NETs) and the native Classroom Assistants implement the programme together in order to provide students an adequate competency in using English.
Activities
The major goal is to provide our students with a language rich environment. Students are provided with ample opportunities to hear and speak English inside and outside the classroom through speaking with our English ambassadors, Native English teachers, and participating in English Monday, dramas, tourist spy or other after-school English activities.
