March 2023 – May 2023

Hello Students,

 

Time is flying. Now we are already in late-May.

 

As with last year, the past months have been busy spent rehearsing a variety of activities such as English Drama for ZOOM and stage and Radio Drama as well as conducting Space Town lessons. This year. On 20^th February, 2023, our English Drama Team performed a new story, The Toilet Mystery in the form of a live ZOOM performance as part of the Hong Kong School Drama Festival (HKSDF). Our students worked very diligently in preparing for the show from mid-September, 2022. The students had many opportunities to take autonomy of their learning and the project. For example, they helped me to add lines and ideas to the script and the characters. They helped with prop design and they also designed their own beautiful artwork for the song videos ‘Elbow Grease’ & ‘I Spy’ and their profile and background pictures on ZOOM. From October 2022 to January 2023, we arranged time in the TV studio to record vocals for the songs, ‘Elbow Grease’, ‘I Spy’ and ‘A Better Me’.

 

The students took clear ownership of the project and I was hugely impressed by their work ethic, commitment, talent and teamwork throughout. They gave a wonderful show on the 20th February and we were honoured to win awards in all categories including the coveted Adjudicator’s Award once more.

 

On 6^th May, our team performed at the bi-annual Primary School Heads Council Primary School English Drama Competition 2022-2023 (The Hong Kong Buddhist Association). Our team performed very well and were awarded the Silver Award (2^nd Place) and the Outstadning Director Award. All the students enjoyed the experience of performing. On the 10^th May, 2023, we had the wonderful experience of performing in the Auditorium at Tsuen Wan Town Hall from 7:30pm – 8:00pm as part of the HKSDF. Winners of the Adjudicator’s Award were invited to perform. We conducted rehearsals from 3pm-5pm on that day and then enjoyed a McDonald’s dinner in the Dressing Room before performing. My sincere thanks to all the students, parents, teachers and the organisers and adjudicators of the Buddhist Drama Competition & HKDSF.

 

So far, our Drama Team have performed a number of shows including 20^th February, 2023 (ZOOM), 19^th April, 2023 (Stage) (P1-3 Assembly), 6^th May, 2023 (Stage) (Competition) and 10^th May, 2023 (Auditorium Stage) (Tsuen Wan Town Hall). We have two more scheduled shows on 27^th June, 2023 (Stage) (BLKT Variety Show) & 7^th July, 2023 (Stage) (P6 Graduation)

 

Auditions for next year’s English Drama Team will take place from Monday 12^th June, 2023 to Friday 16^th June, 2023 from 12:25pm – 12:55pm in the 2/F English Room with Teacher Sam. All students are welcome. There will be 16 positions available.

 

So far, our students in P1, P2 and P3 have completed Units 1-6, 7-11 & 13-17 respectively. We are now busy with Units 6, 12 and 18. If you wish to view more Space Town resources, click below:
