December is always a busy month but also a very exciting month too! Everyone is busy preparing lessons and homework for the holiday ahead and the weather has become cooler so please take good care.
It was also Teacher Ham’s birthday on the 7th December (Guess how old I am? That’s right – 21 years old … again!) and I received many beautiful cards and messages from students. Thank you so much!
On the 8th December, I presented a short workshop about Positive Values for P4-6. This topic is very important in helping people to think positively in every situation, develop resilience and a mindset that says, ‘I’m going to try. I’m not going to give up.’ This is important in life as it’s not always enough just to have the IQ or intelligence to do something. You also have to have the EQ or emotional intelligence which is equally as important.
The American inventor Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times in trying to refine the invention of the lightbulb before eventually succeeding. In response to criticism, he said, ‘I have not failed 10,000 times-I've successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.’ Your mindset is everything and if you can combine a positive frame of mind with a desire to work hard, you can achieve anything you want to. As the saying goes, ‘Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.’
